The USA East Coast is the history-and-skyline itinerary. Most DialForHolidays guests start in New York City, then travel south to Philadelphia and Washington DC, or north to Boston, with Niagara Falls as the nature highlight. The distances are shorter than on the West Coast, and much of the sightseeing is on foot, by subway or on a day coach.
New York is the headline: Statue of Liberty views, Times Square, Fifth Avenue, museums and the night skyline. Washington DC is the capital of monuments and museums, many of them free to enter. Philadelphia sits between the two and is the city of the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. Boston adds colonial streets, universities and the harbour. Niagara Falls, on the New York–Canada border, is a full-day or overnight outing from the New York / New Jersey area or from Buffalo.
East Coast packages suit families, first-time visitors and travellers who prefer cities to long desert drives. Summer is humid; autumn (late September to October) brings comfortable walking weather and, inland, fall colours. Winter can be snowy and is still popular for New York lights and indoor museums.
If you also want Hollywood or the Grand Canyon, treat that as a separate West Coast or parks module with a domestic flight, rather than squeezing both coasts into five nights.
The Northeast has four clear seasons. Humidity and snow matter more here than on the California coast.
Layered clothing and waterproof shoes help in every season. Air-conditioned coaches and hotels make summer days manageable if you avoid the hottest midday stretches outdoors.
International flights arrive at New York (JFK, Newark EWR, LaGuardia LGA), Washington (Dulles IAD, Reagan DCA, Baltimore BWI) or Boston (BOS). From India, one-stop routings via Europe or the Middle East are common.
Between cities: Amtrak trains connect Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Washington on the Northeast Corridor and are often faster door-to-door than flying once airport transfers are counted. Coach tours cover the same corridor plus Niagara. Domestic flights make sense only if you add Florida, Chicago or the West Coast.
Inside New York: Subway, buses, ferries and walking. A car is a disadvantage in Manhattan. Your package may include a city coach tour on day one, then free time on foot.
Niagara Falls: About 6–8 hours by coach from the New York metro area, or a short hop to Buffalo (BUF). The US side (Prospect Point, Maid of the Mist / equivalent boats in season) is enough for most group itineraries. The Canadian Horseshoe Falls view requires a valid visa or visa-waiver for Canada, which Indian passports generally do not have without a separate Canadian visa. We keep standard packages on the US side unless you specifically arrange Canada.
US visitor visas apply as on other USA trips. ESTAs are not available on Indian passports.
East Coast sightseeing is concentrated and easy to sequence.
Days mix guided orientation with free time so families can shop or rest.
Indian, Chinese, Middle Eastern and vegetarian restaurants are easy to find in New York and the DC suburbs. Tipping remains standard. Walk a lot: comfortable shoes matter more here than on a Las Vegas Strip holiday.
The East Coast is where the United States wrote its early political story. Philadelphia and Boston still show 18th-century streets beside modern towers. New York is a working immigrant city: neighbourhoods change every few blocks, from Midtown offices to Lower East Side, Harlem, Queens and Brooklyn food streets.
Washington DC is formal around the Mall and more local in its residential quarters. Security screening at museums and federal buildings is routine; carry a small bag and arrive patient.
English is universal. Service culture is direct. Public transport etiquette (stand right on escalators, let passengers off first) helps in the New York subway. Autumn festivals and winter holiday markets add atmosphere if your dates line up.
